Why You Should Pick Your Photographer for the Photos, Not the Price

Because your wedding photos aren’t just for today — they’re for every day after.

Welcome

Hey friends! I’m Emma from Emma Purkey Photography, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned while working with couples, it’s this: your wedding photographer matters more than you think; not just because of the photos, but because of how you feel when those photos are taken.

I totally get that planning a wedding is expensive. You’re juggling tuition, rent, maybe saving for a house, and suddenly you’re also supposed to plan one of the biggest days of your life. It’s overwhelming, and honestly, I’ve been there.

My Story

Over a year ago, I was in a serious relationship, and we were starting to talk about getting engaged. We were trying to figure out how we’d budget for a ring, a wedding, a honeymoon, a house someday, all the things. It was stressful. I remember realizing how differently we valued our future purchases. I wanted to prioritize spending a little more on a photographer to secure beautiful photos—the kind you look back on for the rest of your life—but he didn’t think it was worth it. And that was hard. It made me feel like maybe I’d never get the wedding day I dreamed of, one filled with the kind of photos that make you feel something every time you see them.

That experience changed me. It made me realize how many couples feel that same tug-of-war between their budget and their dreams. You want photos that truly capture your love, but you’re also trying to be smart financially. And that’s why I decided to offer monthly payment plans — because no one should have to choose between beautiful, lasting memories and staying within their means.

The Payment Plan

When you book with me, I don’t ask for a huge deposit up front. Instead, you can make monthly payments leading up to your wedding day. It’s flexible, it’s interest-free, and it allows you to book your dream photographer immediately, without months of saving and stressing. You can still mark that major task off your to-do list, without that sinking feeling of, “How are we going to afford this right now?”

I know $2,000 or more can sound like a lot. It is! But when you think about what you’re getting, not just pictures, but peace of mind, confidence, and timeless photos that will tell your story for generations — it suddenly feels different. These aren’t photos that sit on a hard drive. These are the images you’ll hang on your wall, show your kids, and flip through on anniversaries when you’re reminiscing about how it all began.

Why Photos Matter

At the end of the day, choosing a photographer shouldn’t just come down to who’s the cheapest or who’s running a sale. It’s about finding someone whose work you love. Someone who sees you, who understands how important this day is, and who’s going to capture it with the care it deserves.

I’ve seen too many couples regret going with the cheapest option, thinking they were saving money, only to end up waiting a quarter of a year for their photos or realizing the experience didn’t match what they’d hoped for. You deserve better. You deserve photos that feel like you, taken by someone who actually cares about your story and wants to help you remember it forever.

Faith & Perspective

I truly believe that God provides, not just in big, miraculous ways, but in small, everyday ones too. If you’re doing your best to plan wisely and keep Him at the center, He’ll make a way. I’ve seen it happen over and over. Your wedding is about more than one day. It’s about the life you’re building together and the love that will carry you through eternity.

Closing Note

So if you’re worried about the cost, know this: you don’t have to settle. You can have beautiful, professional photos and peace of mind. That’s why I created my payment plan, so couples like you don’t have to sacrifice quality for affordability. Because when the day is over, and life gets busy and years go by, your photos will be one of the only things that remain. And trust me — they’re worth it.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where I’ll talk about what really happens when you choose the cheapest photographer & why investing in experience can change everything about your wedding day.
